Interior Design That Changes Your Life
Interior design has the power to greatly impact our daily lives and overall well-being. A thoughtfully designed space can not only enhance the aesthetics of our environment but also improve
Most interior design begins with visual mood boards and fleeting decor trends. At Alwa Design Studio, our process starts with a far more fundamental question: What does this space need to give the people who live or work inside it?
Founded by lead designer Alicja Wawrzyniak, Alwa Design Studio provides bespoke design management for significant home renovations, historic restorations, and boutique commercial environments across Cambridgeshire, London, and nationwide. With a background in clinical psychology alongside ten years of interior design practice, Alicja approaches every project from the inside out.
Before selecting a single material, paint swatch, or piece of joinery, she evaluates how spatial layouts, natural light, acoustics, and proportions affect human behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
If you are seeking an experienced interior designer you can rely on for clarity, composure, and quiet sophistication, our studio offers a complete, end-to-end partnership.
We do not impose a signature studio look. From clean Scandinavian minimalism to rich English maximalism, we adapt our expertise to draw out the architectural character of your property and your specific lifestyle priorities.
Every project starts with a conversation about how the space is actually used, what has not worked, and what it needs to feel like. Everything that follows is built on the answer.
A clear scope of work with transparent costs before anything is committed to. No surprises mid-project – every decision is visible and agreed in advance.
Concept boards, space plans, material palettes and 3D visualisations – a full design presented clearly, reworked with your feedback until it is exactly right.
Every supplier, contractor and timeline coordinated by the studio. Furniture specified, ordered and tracked. You are kept informed at every stage without having to chase.
We deliver a finished space that aligns precisely with the original visual concept, supported by a structured handover to ensure you enjoy every aspect of your new environment.
Whether you arrive with a detailed brief or only a sense of what needs to change, the first conversation is exploratory – and free.
When you collaborate with us, you are investing in a proven, highly structured design framework that brings absolute clarity to your entire home transformation.
A breathtaking concept is only as good as its execution. To save you time, stress, and costly miscommunications, Alicja acts as both your lead interior designer and your dedicated project manager. We manage trusted contractors, handle material procurement, and track budgets through a single point of contact so you can step back and enjoy the reveal.
Backed by a logical, clear system, we guide you seamlessly from initial concepts to final styling. We maintain strict timeline integrity and communicate with complete transparency regarding stages and project milestones, so there are never any misunderstandings or unexpected surprises.
We bring you completely into the design process through beautiful, custom visual presentations, combining detailed technical drawings, atmospheric mood boards, and high-definition 3D renders. Every element is accompanied by clear descriptions and a structured specification list, making it effortless to review, discuss, and approve individual items with total confidence.
As a multiple-time Best of Houzz winner with a proud portfolio of over 60 five-star reviews, our client satisfaction remains the heartbeat of our studio. Backed by a PG Dip from the British Academy of Interior Design in London and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology, Alicja brings unmatched technical and human insight to your build.

It is Alwa Design Studio’s signature approach called the “empathic design strategy.” (note: the “empathic design strategy” was made up by me) Instead of imposing generic design trends, we analyse how specific colours, lighting layouts, and textures interact with your behaviour and mood. We extract your personal stories to design an environment that actively induces calm, joy, and emotional alignment.
Every project is scoped individually, based on size, complexity, and what’s involved – from a single room to a full renovation. Alicja discusses the budget honestly in the first conversation, before any design work begins, so there are no surprises later.
An interior decorator works with what already exists – furniture, colour, finishing touches. An interior designer works with the structure of a space itself: layout, flow, lighting, and how a room functions before it’s furnished. Alwa Design Studio offers both, depending on what a project needs.
Yes. We regularly collaborate with main contractors, commercial architects, mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineers, and project managers across Cambridge, London, and the wider UK. As your dedicated hotel interior designer, we provide comprehensive technical drawing packages, scheduled finish specifications, and conduct regular site inspections to ensure the design vision is executed perfectly on site.
For structural changes, extensions, or new builds, yes – an architect handles the structural and planning side. Alicja works alongside architects and builders throughout a project, and can recommend trusted contacts where needed.
Both. Alwa Design Studios designs private homes as well as commercial properties, including hotels, restaurants, showrooms, and workplace environments. We also provide bespoke property staging to help elevate market appeal, showcase spatial potential, and maximise property value ahead of a sale.

Every project starts with listening – understanding how a space is used and what it needs to give the people in it. From there: budget and planning, design development, sourcing and project management, through to completion.
